Love makes shy brave and brave shy.
We meet new people everyday and it's only natural to form connections and fall in love. We do not choose who we love. I believe that's why it is called falling in love because you don't force yourself to fall, you just fall. Julio Cortazar a famous novelist once said "Como si se pudiese elegir en el amor, como si no fuera un rayo que te parte los huesos y te deja estaqueado en la mitad del patio." which means "as if you could choose in love, as if it were not a bolt of lightning that breaks your bones and leaves you stuck in the middle of the yard." It's true, isn't it? Suddenly all the love songs are about that one person. You want to know everything about them. Be it their quirks, their odd sense of style, a particular way of doing things, you start to find everything about them irresistible. You fall for them harder and deeper until you are finally in "love". Your heart skips a beat every time you watch them smile. Soon enough you realize that loving them might make you stronger but that "one" person has become your weakness.
As Keanu Reeves righty said at The Drew Barrymore show "If you are a lover, you gotta be a fighter coz if you don't fight for your love, what kind of love do you have!" Sometimes you fight with your love and sometimes for your love.
Our society is bound by various unsaid rules forcing us as to who we can choose as our partner and who we cannot. Where on one side the western culture pressurizes to find a suitable partner early on to settle in life, south Asian culture refrains from doing so since it is deemed that finding a suitable partner is more of a right than a responsibility of one's parents. But where does love fit in all this? It does not because love knows no boundaries.
Sometimes lovers break rules for the right reasons. They do not conform to the ideals bestowed upon them by the society. Instead they fight for a climate of freedom that allows them to pursue their heart's yearning. They might appear incorrect in their upright form, but such perception only through the eyes of those travelling under the hypnotic notion of social paradigms. Even those who might seem the weakest aren't shy anymore. They know for sure that their heart's in the right place and just waiting to land into the hands of that one "right" person.
A strong relationship requires choosing to love each other even in those moments you struggle to like each other. Sometimes our individuality becomes a hurdle in our relationships. At the end of the day you can either focus on what's tearing you apart or what's keeping you together. It becomes difficult to allow oneself to let go of the expectations we have from the people we love. We want them to love us in a certain way. We get conscious of every action of theirs. This reminds me of the lines from "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho ~ "When someone sees the same people everyday, they wind up becoming a part of that person's life. And they want that person to change." I believe it to be true.
But it's also true that love is one of the strongest form of emotion one can ever feel. Love teaches you both to hold on tight as well as to let go. Sometimes love makes you fight like madman for your love and sometimes it makes you realize that the best possible way of loving someone is letting them go. Who says only fighting for your love makes you a true lover? Allowing someone to be happy even if it is without you, what does that say about the strength of your love. Sounds clingy eh? Sounds filmy, doesn't it? The late Irfan Khan does make it believable though when he says "Mohabbat hai is liye jaane diya, zidd hoti to baahon mein hoti". One might say that such notion of love is irrational and illogical and you can love a person only till the time you are reciprocated with that kind of affection or till you get wearied down by the fights and not even a single cell in your body has the urge to love them, again. But again, love makes shy brave and these shy people can continue to feel that emotion that nothing in the world can make them change their feelings, not even the person they love and this is what makes them braver than anyone.
What about those who kneel down in love? What about the kings who bow down only to their queens? What about the queens who give up on the world to support their kings? Even the bravest of all have a soft spot for their love. Even the strongest of all forget their ideals and make exceptions for their love. One can say love make the brave shy.
Well, being one of the strongest emotion makes love dangerous. "Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime"~ Bette Davis. Love seems to break hearts more often than amending it. Sometimes they leave us making us feel as if the world has come to an end and there is no meaning left in the universe anymore. But life isn't always sunshine and butterflies. Sometimes you got to smile through the pain. The worst feeling in the world is when you can't love anyone else because your heart still belongs to the one who broke it. But you have to move on because the universe does not stop for your grief. It takes real strength to realize that some people are a part of your history but not a part of your destiny.
All in all , experience love because love changes the world around you. It inspires you, makes you fearless, opens new doors you thought never existed and helps you make memories which you cherish and replenish forever.
